Are You Redecorating Your Kitchen?
ShareWas one of your Christmas gifts a promise of you getting to redecorate your kitchen? Or, maybe you have been saving your money to do a kitchen re-do once the holidays were over. No matter the story behind the reason you are redecorating your kitchen, you are more than likely looking forward to the project. From selecting the window treatment design to choosing kitchen furniture, here are some ideas that might help you to establish a pleasant and unique room where your family and friends can spend time together.
The Window Treatment Design - Think about selecting plantation shutters for your kitchen window treatment design. The great thing about plantation shutters is that they will go with any theme you might select for your kitchen decor. Plantation shutters may be a bit more expensive than curtains, but they'll last for a very long time, and they're super easy to maintain. Just dust them off when you do your other dusting and, if they need special attention, wipe them off with a damp cloth and a gentle cleanser.
You might have your heart set on fabric curtains for your kitchen. If so, consider the type you want. For example, if you are decorating with a rustic feeling in your kitchen, consider selecting denim for your curtain fabric. If you want a bit of a whimsical or an old-fashioned look, think about gingham fabric or a fabric that has flowers as the main design. Think of selecting a fabric that washes well and that you won't have to iron.
The Kitchen Furniture - Consider the mood you want to set in your kitchen. For example, if you want a contemporary setting, think of choosing metal furniture. If you want to set a shabby chic tone, choose unpainted furniture and give it the shabby chic look yourself. That's so easy to do that you'll probably have the job done rapidly. For a traditional look, consider selecting wooden furniture.
For a bit of added drama, think of extra furniture besides your kitchen table and chairs. For example, if you have enough space in your kitchen, think of adding a floor to ceiling cabinet where you can display things like your dishes, serving pieces, plants, and your favorite collectibles. If you don't have enough space for a large cabinet, think of hanging a small one on one of the kitchen walls. Use it for displaying your collectibles, too.
